Packing a Picture or Mirror:
|
MAKING A SIMPLE PICTURE CARTON: Select a carton which, when flattened-out, will
be larger than the picture which is too be packed. If it isn’t already, flatten the carton out by
unsealing the bottom and collapsing it. Then, while flattened-out, seal on opening of the carton,
leaving the opposite end unsealed. You now have a perfect container for the picture after its
wrapped.
PROTECTING GLASS: For added protection of glass-covered pictures, lay two strips of
sealing tape across the glass diagonally, from corner to corner, forming an “X” with the tape.
Lay out several sheets of wrapping paper flat on the table. Extend them, but overlap them
so the paper is more than twice the width of the picture and several inches longer above
and below the picture
Take the edge of one side of a couple sheets of you wrapping paper and pull it over the
picture, covering it over halfway; now do the same with the other side of the wrapping
paper. Then apply a piece of tape, over lapping the exposed edge so the wrapping paper
is secure and won’t come apart. Finally, tuck in the corners of that part of the wrapping
paper which is extended above the top of the picture; pull the top of the wrapping paper
down over the picture, covering a portion of the upper part of the picture. Apply ample
tape and seal it securely. Repeat the process with the bottom portion of the picture.
Slide the wrapped picture into your homemade picture carton. Seal the remaining opening
of the carton. With you sealing tape, cover and fasten all areas of the carton where
openings may still exist.
