Packing a Tall Table Lamp:

Remove the lamp shade and wrap the cord around the base of the lamp. Lay

the

lamp in the middle of

several sheets of paper. If the lamp is quite large, you’

ll need

to extend the paper, keeping it overlapped, to

cover the entire lamp.

Grasp the

wrapping paper closest to your body by the edge.

Roll the wrapping paper around the lamp. Then grasp the edge of your

wrapping

paper on the end where

the base of the lamp is laying and fold it overt

the base.

Now, wrap the paper on the opposite side of the

lamp completely

around the lamp.

Before proceeding any further, tape the bundle to prevent it from falling apart on

you.

Finally, fold the remaining end of the paper (at the top of the lamp) over and tape

securely.

Place the lamp in a large carton which has had plenty of wadded-up paper

placed

on the bottom for

additional protection.

Packing a Lampshade:

Choose a carton large enough for the lampshade to fit in. To keep a lampshade from
getting soiled, the interior of the carton should be completely lined on all four sides
and the bottom with clean wrapping paper or tissue paper. If you don’t have any
clean, unprinted newspaper, then it is recommended that you purchase some
wrapping tissue from a stationary or department store, or from your mover.

After having lined the carton, simply place the lamp shade in the carton. If you have
more than one lampshade and two or three can be nested inside the other, then do
so. Do not pack anything else in with the lampshades! When the lampshades are
inside the carton, place some protective tissue over the top of the shades.

Do not wad-up any additional packing paper and stuff it in the carton! Pack the lamp
shades only in the carton. Close the carton using sealing tape, then in large letters
write “LAMP SHADES” and “DO NOT CRUSH” on all four sides of the box with your
marker.
