Packing Pantries, Storage Closets:
|
PANTRY: Your pantry contains a few breakable articles, such as the large ceramics,
glasses, china, serving platters and other items. Following the same rules as were
illustrated and outlined in wrapping other breakables, these items should all be
carefully wrapped and placed into the same cartons as dishes and breakables.
The numerous little containing spices, liquids and foods, should each be securely
sealed prior to being placed in cartons. Put a strip of tape over the top of the bottles
to fasten them safely; run a strip of tape over the top of spice cans; tape cereal boxes
shut, and run a strip of tape around the lid of a canister, securing it tightly closed.
STORAGE CLOSETS: Most goods in a storage closet can be packed in a
medium-sized carton. Pots and pans should be lined (like glasses) and nested one
inside the other wherever possible. Then they should be wrapped to protect against
scratching and denting before being packed into a carton.
Small appliances, such as a Mixmaster, blenders, toasters, food processors, radar
range, etc., should be wrapped if several will be packed into a single carton. If a
piece is going into an individual carton, then simply stuff the space around it with
wadded-up paper.
