Sealing Tape:
You’re going to need tape for sealing-up cartons and for securing much of your
wrapping.
There are three kinds of tape which are commonly used for packing. Whichever
one you choose, be sure your tape is at least two inches wide. Narrower tape is
less expensive, but you’ll have to use much more of it. Ultimately, you will end
up spending more money on narrower tape.
Use any one of there three types of tape:
MASKING TAPE: Masking tape is perhaps the easiest kind of tape to handle. The
greatest convenience is that it can be torn by hand. Masking tape is available in various
grades and qualities and strength. Don’t buy cheap masking tape as it is too thin and lacks
strength. You will have to use much more of it than you would with a better grade tape,
which will cost you more.
PLASTIC TAPE: This tape is much like scotch tape, except it’s larger and stronger. It is
considerably stronger than masking tape and possesses much greater adhesive qualities.
Because of this, you won’t need to use as much as you would ordinarily use with masking
tape. Since it is too strong to tear by hand, each strip will have to be cut with a pair of
scissors or a sharp knife.
FILAMENT TAPE: Filament tape is by far the strongest tape of the three. It has many
little cords built into it for added strength. Like plastic tape, it will have to be cut with
scissors or a sharp knife.

Different movers are apt to use any of these types of sealing tape; therefore, the
choice is merely whichever type you prefer.
You can purchase most any of these tapes from your mover or at drug,
stationary, department, and hardware stores.
